When you’re applying makeup to so many different people and stocking up a professional kit so often, you find out pretty quickly which products are your favourites. But when you’re shopping for your own personal makeup bag, it can be hard to decide which products are actually worth investing in. There are so many social influencers, advertisements and marketing experts around nowadays that it can seem impossible to spot a genuine recommendation. Am I right?!

Whenever I’m on the hunt for new products to try, I always turn to my favourite makeup artist’s posts to see what they’re using  – I feel it’s so telling to see which products people are genuinely investing in and using on their clients. In case you haven’t gathered, I’m kind of obsessed with the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Bible. So as you can imagine, I did die and go to heaven for a brief moment when Kim and Kylie announced that they’d be collaborating to bring us the latest Kylie Cosmetics release.

Whilst Kim is obviously best known for her full on glam, over the past few months she’s been bringing things back to basics with minimal, effortless ‘no make-up’ looks, and I am all the way here for it. I love creating softer looks on my clients and on myself, and I’m a firm advocate for enhancing natural beauty. So when Kim and Kylie blessed us with their KKW campaign, I was so happy to see fresh skin, natural brows, barely there eye makeup and nude lips. I just had to recreate it!

If you know me well, you’ll know that I’m obsessed with the colour nude. Clothes, makeup, nails, shoes. I’ll have one of everything in nude, please. So it’s no surprise that I have an entire drawer in my kit dedicated completely to nude lip products. And yes, before you roll your eyes, they’re all different in their own special way, OK!

So, for the purpose of this post, I’ve split down all my favourite into my top 5 lipsticks, liquids, liners and glosses. These are my most reached for products to use on my clients and on myself. I’ve swatched them all from lightest to darkest in natural light and with flash, with a description of the finishes and undertones, so that you’re totally clued up if you’re looking for a new staple nude. The 90’s has to be my favourite era. I feel like it’s had such a heavy influence on my style, whether its fashion, hair, makeup or music (FYI I’m talking Jodeci and Aaliyah, not Bewitched!). From Cindy Crawford in her Levis, to Jennifer Aniston in her New York Knicks sweater, there is just something so cool and effortless about 90’s style that I’m always drawn to!

The internet has told you. The magazines have told you. Your favourite celeb has told you. Your nan has probably told you too. Looking after your skin is SO important, yet it’s the one piece of advice that people always seem to skip over. We all know that skincare is vital in order to keep breakouts at bay and to prevent aging, but many people don’t realise just how much of a difference it will make to your makeup if your complexion is in check. I always say that you can make an average foundation look incredible on amazing skin, but it’s almost impossible to make a luxury foundation look good on neglected skin. By the way girls, this isn’t about spots or breakouts – we all get them and sometimes there’s nothing you can do except ride it out. It’s about keeping the skin polished, fresh and smooth.
